Hey! Anthony Tolliver is still out there, so it's not completely dried up. ;)
But what do you guys think about Jarvis Varnado? MIA already has a full roster, and Pittman is the only signed rookie. It doesn't appear like they have room to sign either De'Sean Butler or Varnado. The only problem I see is that he's a bit smaller and more of a F/C than a true C. But he's a very gifted shot-blocker, and I thought he performed fairly well in the SL.
Thanks for bringing this up man; I didn't realized they maxed out their roster already, but you're right: they're at 15 signed players right now according to hoopshype.
Varnado and Butler are two players I feel very strongly about. Varnado was a tremendous college defensive player and he's about as offensively talented as Lou Amundson (he catches the ball a lot better and has a few post-up moves, but not many). For that matter, Amundson and Varnado are almost carbon copies of each other on the defensive side of the ball.
Butler was right behind Evan Turner for me as my favorite college basketball player last season. The guy seems to me to be the definition of well-roundedness and balance in a basketball player, but he's coming off a bad ACL tear in March and probably still needs some time to get up to speed. But nonetheless he's very talented and from all accounts exudes great character and leadership qualities.
Unfortunately, neither one of those players are positions we have much need for right now. We need either depth at Center or at the Guard positions, not at Forward, and I guess that's a little disappointing (I do like the guys we have at Small Forward and Power Forward though).
